Our Commitment to Sustainability and Ethical Practices.

We (the 'royal we'!) are a small family business, striving to be as eco-friendly and as ethical as possible.

Thoughtfully Designed

All our designs begin life as hand-drawn illustrations, scribbled by us (real humans!) here in Scotland — before being sprinkled with a wee bit of digital magic to bring them to life on our clothing.

Children's Safety is Paramount

We make a conscious choice not to feature children in any way that identifies them within our product images or on social media. Protecting children’s privacy and safety online is very important to us.

We also believe children shouldn't be walking adverts for brands – so you won’t find known characters, logos, slogans or visible branding on our clothing.

Photography

While we currently - reluctantly - use AI-generated model images, we ensure they do not include any identifiable features. As we grow, we plan to replace these with real photography from a proper photoshoot - featuring real people, responsibly and respectfully and without revealing anyone’s identity.

Paper Goods

All paper goods are shipped from our Bold Bairns Studio in Scotland in 100% recycled packaging.

DTG-printed Clothing

All apparel is printed on demand and shipped directly from our manufacturer, reducing unnecessary journeys and keeping shipping costs low. Orders are produced at facilities closest to you for faster delivery and are packaged in recycled, recyclable plastic or kraft paper bags (without tissue paper) to minimize waste.

Play Packs

Our play packs are designed to be printed at home. Each pack includes guidance on how to print sustainably, helping you reduce waste while sparking creativity.

Circular Economy Plans

We’re working on a system where you can return used Bold Bairns clothing for a small store credit. Returned items will be repurposed in t-shirt screen-printing classes, supporting a circular economy and giving clothes a second life. In the meantime, if your clothing is ready to be recycled, please contact us for guidance on recycling options in your country.
